THE EVENT

The Summer Ball is the gem in the Student Unions yearly events.  The site comprises of 5 areas; Main Stage, Field Stage, Dance Arena, Junk Yard & VIP catering for 5000 students to finish their academic year in style.  Main Stage has consisted of touring artists from Florence & The Machine, Feeder, Tim Minchin & Pixie Lott to name a few and so needs to be built to touring spec.

The Field Stage is for more local and up-coming talents, and the Dance Arena offers the students a chance to listen to something a little more energetic with Big name DJ’s like Dave Rodigen & Lethal Bizzell.  The Junk Yard usually is home to the Red Bull Silent Disco.

The Site has 5 bars and various food outlets which also require power & lighting, the site requires lighting and all areas require power distribution.

Our strong relationship with Nexo & Harman have allowed us to grow as a company Supplying the total production for the entire event.  Generators and towerlights are sub-contracted in via our friends at Power Electrics, and we provide the rest.

Power is distributed to all areas to run the bar and catering and lights installed in the bar areas.  The Dance Arena has a simple Stage with Nexo M6/LS18 Combo catering for around 750 students.  The idea is to keep the feel cool but still modern and exciting, so the design for the arena changes yearly.

The Main Stage is a Daytona DS100 (as pictured in our portfolio photo), using a Nexo GeoS12 Line-Array coupled with RS18 subs this stage caters for around 3000 of the crowd and any one time.  The Stage faces out to sea to try and eliminate any sound issues.  Lighting for this stage is supplied with the help of our friends and MJ Lighting.

The Field Stage is a smaller area for local and up-and-coming bands.  We utilise our 8x6m Stage Roof and and the Nexo M6 system to allow the 1000 strong audience to relax and enjoy the artists.

We manage all aspects of Production for this event on behalf of the Student Union allowing them to concentrate on other aspects of the event.
